Uniform toll application in the EU

Uniform toll charges in the EU: EU Commissioner Oettinger argued that a uniform toll fee should be applied in 28 EU member states.
While the draft law on the charge of toll fees for vehicles with foreign license plates continues in Germany, EU Commissioner Oettinger argued that a uniform toll fee should be applied in 28 EU member countries.
In the federal elections held in Germany last September, the demand for toll fees for vehicles with foreign plates sparked a great debate. The Christian Social Unity Party (CSU), which is the sister party of the Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU), led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, asked for toll fees for vehicles with foreign license plates on German highways.
A COMMON SOLUTION
He made this request as a condition of the coalition government agreement established between CDU / CSU-SPD. After the government was established, the former Secretary General of CSU, Alexander Dobrindt, who was the Federal Minister of Transport, started work on the draft law that stipulated the toll fee for vehicles with foreign license plates.
However, the European Union (EU) reacts strongly to Germany's request to charge toll only for vehicles with foreign license plates. EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger brought up toll charges for all EU member states. In a statement, Oettinger asked 28 EU member states to implement a common toll charge.
“It would be best if all EU member states find a common solution to the toll,” said Oettinger. Oettinger also reminded that the draft bill envisaging the toll fee in Germany will be examined by the EU Commissioner after the completion.
