The longest rail in the world will be manufactured by NSSMC

The longest rail in the world will be manufactured by NSSMC: Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) announced that it has set up a system at Yawata manufacturing facility that can produce the longest rail in the world with a length of 150 meters. It will increase the durability of the railways by reducing the number of railway companies and the frequency of maintenance.

According to a statement from NSSMC, the railroad rails are usually cut and supplied in standard lengths of 25 meters (or 50 meters, the longest rail ever produced) after the hot rolling process. Connections between rails, one of the causes of noise and vibrations affecting passengers' comfort, are considered weak points in railway maintenance. In order to solve these problems, railway companies produce continuous rails by welding these connection points.
