Green airports are growing

The number of green airports is increasing: In recent days, the aviation sector has started to put its hands under the control of carbon emissions that threaten the world from the best.
-Istanbul Carbon Summit Organizing Committee Chair Assoc. Dr. Etem Karakaya: "The initiatives of the aviation industry, which is rapidly growing in the world, on environmental solutions are promising."
"The amount of emission caused by a person flying between Istanbul and New York is the same as the amount of emissions caused by the same person using fuel for heating for a year"
Istanbul - Environmental studies of airline companies and airports intensify every day. With the contributions of the aviation industry, the Istanbul Carbon Summit is held between April 3-5, 2014, hosted by Istanbul Technical University.
As climate change started to affect the world, issues such as global warming and the increase in greenhouse emissions started to pose a threat to future generations. The seriousness of this problem led to a public awareness of solutions. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change also outlines the extent of this problem. The 3-5 April 2014 is hosted by Istanbul Technical University and the Istanbul Carbon Summit is organized with the contributions of many ministries and institutions.

Chairman of Istanbul Carbon Summit Organizing Committee Assoc. Dr. Etem Karakaya stated that the global carbon markets in the world are developing and growing rapidly and the importance of the studies on the development of sustainable carbon management, emission trade and clean technologies has been understood with increasing public awareness. Karakaya stated that the world's rapidly growing aviation sector contributed significantly to the increase of greenhouse gas emissions, and that urgent measures were taken by the European Union and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
“Traveling by air travel causes serious greenhouse gas emissions of individuals. For example, the amount of emission caused by a person flying between Istanbul and New York is the same as the amount of emission caused by the same person using fuel for heating for a year. As the EU attaches importance to this issue, it plans to include all airline companies arriving and departing from its own airspace to the European Union Emission Trading System. Serious concrete sanctions will be imposed on this issue until 2016. This situation closely concerns all airline companies of our country, especially Turkish Airlines. "
Emphasizing that with the Istanbul Carbon Summit, they aim to draw attention to carbon emissions in the aviation industry as in many other industries, Karakaya said, “In a developing and livable world, emissions in the air must be reduced as well as aboveground”.
In Turkey aviation sector, which began in December of Civil Aviation General Directorate of 2009 years, in 2010 developed in making new arrangements "Green Airport Project" The number of yl modern and environmentally friendly organizations is increasing with each passing day.
