GSM operators started negotiations to provide uninterrupted communication to the passengers to be transported on the YHT line.

Anticipating that a large number of passengers will be transported on the Ankara Istanbul High Speed Train (YHT) line, GSM operators started negotiations with the General Directorate of TCDD to offer uninterrupted mobile communication. GSM-R, which was first implemented in Europe in 2000, was integrated into YHT infrastructures by the General Directorate of TCDD. TCDD, which installed this system on the Eskişehir-Haydarpaşa line, opened the infrastructure of the system to the use of GSM operators.

GSM operators and TCDD officials started negotiations before the line was put into service. On the other hand, due to the decision of the Information Technologies and Communications Authority regarding the use of common base stations, pollution was prevented by the placement of common base stations on this line by mobile enterprises, but the mountainous terrain of the line increased the number of base stations. Thanks to the GSM-R system, fast and uninterrupted communication can be established between the command center, YHT sets and trains. If the operators request, there is no interruption in mobile communication in YHTs, so passengers can have comfortable mobile communication and 3G supported internet access.

GSM-R SYSTEM is being developed

Ankara-Eskişehir YHT line, Ankara-Konya and Eskişehir-Konya YHT lines in the GSM-R system, the first part of Ankara-Istanbul YHT line will be in service on the Eskişehir-Köseköy line. The system will then be installed on the Köseköy-Haydarpaşa line and on the Ankara-İzmir and Ankara-Sivas high-speed train lines.
