Project of the Century Marmaray: Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will inaugurate Marmaray, the 283-year-old dream of the century, after 150 days. Metin Tahan, Deputy General Manager of Infrastructure Investments, said in a statement about the Marmaray Project that they, as an investor general directorate, made field visits in order to carry out the Marmaray Project very quickly with the construction of railway, sea road, airway and metro.
Stating that they spend about 4 days of the week at the Marmaray construction site, Tahan said, “76 kilometers of the Marmaray Project, which is 15,5 kilometers, passes through the tubes that are located in the underground throat, which is the core of Marmaray, from Ayrılık Çeşme to Kazlı Çeşme. We are working hard to raise our line to 29 October 2013 ”.
Stating that Marmaray will be inaugurated on October 29, 2013, Tahan said, “We encountered very serious problems in Marmaray.
You work in tunnels about 60 meters below ground. When we consider the traffic flow in Istanbul's residential area, we work 3 hours in 24 shifts. "Weather does not affect us because we work underground," he said.
Stating that they have made serious progress in the Marmaray study, Tahan stated that until 29 October 2013, they will improve the suburban lines between Gebze and Pendik and raise Marmaray.
