The construction contract of the first stage of the Izmir-Ankara High Speed ​​Train Project will be signed today.

Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yildirim, in his written statement on the subject, Izmir-Ankara High-Speed ​​Train (YHT) line, the first stage of the Ankara-Afyonkarahisar section of the tender has been concluded by recalling that the construction of the line will be signed tomorrow and construction work will begin after the delivery of the place said.
Yıldırım also stated that the work for the second stage of the project is continuing and he added:
“We aim to complete the construction of the line as soon as possible. Ankara-İzmir YHT Project consists of three stages, namely Ankara-Afyonkarahisar, Afyonkarahisar-Uşak and Uşak-Manisa-İzmir. We also went to the tender of the second stage. We are planning to continue the works of this line by completing the tender process of this line. With the completion of this line with a total project amount of 3 billion 3 million liras, we will carry 567 million passengers annually between Ankara and Izmir. ”

After the completion of the project, the distance of 824 kilometers between Ankara and İzmir will decrease to 624 kilometers. Within the scope of the project, 13 tunnels, 13 viaducts and 189 bridges are planned. Approximately 4 thousand people will be employed in the project. The shortening of travel time with the service of the line will also contribute significantly to our economy. Only the contribution of İzmir-Ankara YHT line to the economy from vehicle operation, time and fuel saving will reach 700 million lira per year. ”
