ROAD RENOVATION OF 58 HIGH RAY TEMPERATURE

The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) Road Department and employees of road renovation work carried out by road, despite the extreme heat continues at full speed.
Özden Polat, President of the Association of Railway Construction and Operation Staff Solidarity and Solidarity (YOLDER), whose headquarters is in Izmir, visited the area where the railway renewal works between Manisa and Akhisar were carried out. YOLDER General Secretary İbrahim Alper Yalçın attended the visit accompanied by Balıkesir Road Maintenance and Repair Manager İsmail Karakoç. YOLDER President Polat, wishing the road personnel who continue their works in spite of the extreme heat, explained that the road renewal work between Manisa - Akhisar was carried out within the scope of the Menemen - Bandırma Signalization Project. Özden Polat said that the 52-kilometer railway renewal work, which started in the region, is planned to be completed in September 2012. Polat said that the superstructure was filled and the rails, ballasts and sleepers changed within the scope of the project and that the work would cost 32 million liras. Stating that 60 people worked in the roadworks, Özden Polat gave the following information: “All works are carried out for the modernization of the road. The 52-kilometer road renewal work is carried out with a modern device called a road renewal machine. When these renewals, which are the first step of the signalization work, are completed, the trains in the region will be able to continue their flights without waiting for each other. Time losses will also be prevented. "
Polat stated that the road between Manisa and Akhisar is renewed 720 meters a day and said: “The employees work with great devotion. The temperature of the tracks reaches 58 degrees during the day. Despite this, the roadworks are never interrupted. The work that started in the morning hours continues until the evening ”Polat said that the trains in the area where the road renewal has been made continue with a slowdown in the evenings.
Noting that there are 152 level crossings on the Menemen - Bandırma line and 33 on the Manisa-Akhisar road, YOLDER President Özden Polat said that the road renewal works will also provide improvement in level crossings.
Explaining that all of the level crossings will be controlled with the works carried out within the scope of the signalization project, Polat gave the following information on the subject: “Currently, 152 of the 72 crossings between Menemen and Bandırma are automatic, 20 are guard-controlled, the rest are uncontrolled. This region is a region where level crossing accidents are very intense. As a non-governmental organization, YOLDER, with the support of road personnel, prepared a draft regulation for the prevention of level crossing accidents and we submitted this draft to our General Directorate. We need to increase awareness of level crossings. There is a serious legal gap and authority confusion in this regard. Although TCDD does not have a legal duty, it is working very seriously on this issue.
