The fact that Eskişehir-Istanbul train services cannot be made for 2 years will make 10-15 thousand people traveling daily on this line suffer. BTS Branch President Bektaş stated that while the State Railways could solve this problem by closing one side of the double-line road, they escaped to ease.
Train services will not be available from 1 February on the Eskişehir-Istanbul line. The General Directorate of State Railways reported that the trips were canceled for 2 years due to the construction of the Köseköy-Gebze high-speed train line.
This makes even the human journey between 10-15 bin every day. The majority of these are students and workers.
While the State Railways claims that they have taken the necessary measures to prevent the passengers from being victims, Hasan Bektaş, Head of Branch No. 1 of BTS Istanbul, states that no alternative is offered to the passengers.
Speaking to ETHA, Bektaş said that apart from two years of construction, train trips could not be made for 6 years, since trial runs will be made for 2,5 months.
“There are double lines here. This job could be done by closing one of the roads, ”said Bektaş.“ They closed both of them, they ran away to ease ”.
Stating that more than 10 thousand passengers will be victims, Bektaş said that the State Railways did not offer an alternative to these passengers. Stating that only Izmit Municipality runs bus services, Bektaş said, “10-15 thousand passengers cannot be transported by municipal buses”.
