President Altay Met with an Exemplary High School Student

The images recorded by a citizen of Yusuf Dağtaş, a 17-year-old student of Aselsan Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, who did not remain indifferent to the fall of the route sign showing important places at the Konya Bus Terminal junction and fixed the sign after long efforts, were greatly appreciated on social media.

Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay, after watching the footage, said on his social media account: “Beautiful people show their difference everywhere. I'm looking for our young friend who fixed the traffic sign after a long effort. Let's spread the word, find it, and make a little surprise. "Thanks to Mr. Mehmet for the video," he shared.

Mayor Altay met with the sensitive young man he reached through social media and thanked him for his exemplary behavior, and presented the young man with a bicycle and a Konyaspor jersey.

Mayor Altay reminded that they always work with the effort to revive the generations while developing the cities, and said, "May God increase your number."

Aselsan Konya Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School student Yusuf Dağtaş thanked Mayor Altay for his interest and gifts and said:

“On my way home from school, I noticed that a sign on the road I always use was bent. Thinking I could fix it, I went to him and did so as a result of my efforts. A brother passing by saw this and took a video of it. He thanked me when he left at the end. I responded by saying 'it is our duty'. This image was later shared on social media. My president also saw this video and reached out to me. He invited us and we came. Thank you, my president, for hosting us and giving us a thank you gift. I did this act of kindness wholeheartedly, without expecting anything in return. Our elders told us to pick up every stone we saw from the road. We tried to correct every deficiency we saw as much as we could. They say, 'Do good and throw it into the sea.' As they said, I did a good deed and threw it into the sea.”

Stating that he saw the video when he returned home after the incident and that his friends reached him, Dağtaş said, “Everyone asked me, 'How did Yusuf happen? "Tell me," he said. I explained. The reactions were also good. They said, 'We already knew that you did such good deeds, seeing you like this made us even more honored.' When I met with my president, I told him that I would continue this behavior. There is a beautiful saying of Hazrat Mevlana: 'Whatever is inside the jug, also leaks out of it'. "There should always be clean water inside our jug ​​so that clean water comes out of it," he said.
