The countdown has begun for the Sivas High Speed Train (YHT) Project. YHT, whose test drives continue, is planned to be put into service on September 4, the anniversary of Sivas Congress. With the start of the voyages, the travel time to Sivas-Ankara, which takes an average of four hours by land and 12 hours by train, will be reduced to two hours.

Sivas Mayor Hilmi Bilgin stated that all preparations for the high-speed train have been completed and said, “The high-speed train is one of the biggest investments made in Sivas in the history of the republic. Sivas will feel the effect of this very quickly after the expeditions start. YHT will have a great economic return. It will positively affect cultural and social life. Sivas will be a preferable city in education as well," he said. Stating that the number of visitors in the city will increase, Bilgin said, “I believe that with the high-speed train, the number of visitors in Sivas will increase exponentially. We will see this from the winter months of 2022, and in the summer of 2022, an incomparable number of tourists will come to Sivas," he said. Emphasizing that time is important for investors, Bilgin said, “Solving the time problem will make Sivas more attractive among investable cities. YHT will make a great contribution to solving the employment problem. We are hopeful and excited. First of all, the winners will be Sivas and Sivas people," he said.

Can Also Be Used For Express Cargo Transportation

Kenan Çalışkan, Chairman of the Transportation Employees Officers Union (Transportation Officers-Sen), pointed out that it is possible to adopt a cargo transportation policy on these lines strategically. Caliskan said: Sivas has been a railroad city for a long time. The fact that Sivas has a high-speed train means a different importance and meaning. That line is a place on the Iron Silk Road, which extends to Kars on the railways. With this line, the high-speed train will arrive from Istanbul to Sivas. Currently, it only carries passengers, but in the future, they may decide to carry freight, maybe turn it into a fast cargo transportation. It is very important that there is a high-speed train line there.

Traveling at 250 KM per Hour

Excitement is at its peak for the High Speed Train project, which covers the distance between Ankara and Sivas and has a length of 393 kilometers. 66 tunnels with a length of 49 kilometers, 53 viaducts, 217 underpasses and overpasses, and 61 bridges and culverts were built on the YHT line. The train will be operated electrically and signaled at a speed of 250 kilometers per hour. On the route of YHT, there will be 8 stations, namely Elmadağ, Kırıkkale, Yerköy, Yozgat, Sorgun, Akdağmağdeni, Yıldızeli and Sivas.

Ankara-Sivas YHT Line Opens on September 4

Performance tests, which started with the completion of most of the YHT line between Ankara and Sivas, continue. It is expected that YHT will bring a significant economic return to the city and contribute to the touristic and cultural life of the city.

Sivas YHT line is expected to be opened on September 100, in the 4th anniversary of Sivas Congress.
