George Stephenson (June 9, 1781 - August 12, 1848) is the British mechanical engineer who designed the first steam locomotive "Rocket". Also known as the father of railways. The locomotive named "Rocket", which he designed, pulled a load of 1829 kg at the speed of 22 km per hour on the Liverpool-Manchester line.
George Stephenson Life and work
Stephenson first started at a coal mine in Newcastle. Here he built locomotives that would attract coal-loaded scales. First, he examined the coal-powered locomotives. Later, his knowledge of steam machines increased and he started building them in ten years.
Stephenson designed a coal-powered travel locomotive in 1814. This would have attracted 30 tons. He invented wheels with coal-operated flanges and full grips. He will then apply it to his steam locomotives. He made many designs.
